Where you can see the colour of the winds, by Sibylle Laubscher
Where you can see the colour of the winds
This artwork is the final submission from the artist Sibylle Laubscher for the ‘Humanity’ event by the Faerian gallery. The artist created this piece in 3 days, inspired by a prompt that was submitted by the public. In a unique twist, instead of being interpreted by an AI, this time the prompt was brought to life by a human artist. The entire creative process was livestreamed online and at the NFC Lisboa event.
Artist’s Description
Original Prompt Text
Prompt by Mindy (Twitter: @MindyCurator)
— ‘Where you can see the colour of winds. Quite & calm. Blue & white.’
Was AI used?
— No
How is your final artwork related to the prompt?
— I have concentrated on making the work have movement (winds) and colour, but yet communicate a feeling of peace and quiet (flat lake)
Why did you choose this prompt?
— It was open and left enough to the imagination, I also liked the juxtaposition of wind and quiet.
Explain more your creative process:
— I read the text several times and then I let my hand and brush guide me to a first impression. I then built up layers in crayon refining the shapes and balancing the work to create a feeling of harmony and depth. A work of art is a singular totality – meaning a unique world in itself requiring nothing from outside.
