Sibylle Laubscher is an Anglo-Swiss traditional artist. For more than two decades, she has been deeply committed to the European tradition of painting, fine art, and its associated philosophy. Based in Switzerland and the UK, her artistry is a vibrant blend of movement and light, creating what she refers to as “living pictures”.
Drawing inspiration from her surroundings, she captures the essence of her environment in sketches, which later serve as the foundation for her paintings and prints.
Her artistic vision is deeply influenced by the categories of “Aesthetics in Art” by Immanuel Kant and a decade-long study of Art Theory & Philosophy. Laubscher’s work is a testament to the numinous, spiritual, and beautiful. Her poetic-expressionistic style invites viewers to engage in a dialogue with her art, encouraging them to explore the depths of their own interpretations. Fascinated by color, form, movement, and a sense of play, she creates captivating images that capture the beauty of her aesthetic feeling.
Beyond her fascination with the visual elements of art, Laubscher is also deeply invested in the themes her work explores. Her art subtly addresses themes such as womanhood and the environment, maintaining an openness that allows for multiple interpretations. Each piece is a living, breathing organism that comes alive when viewed, offering a unique perspective on the world around us.
Sibylle’s work has been exhibited widely in group exhibitions throughout Europe, with solo exhibitions in Vienna, Austria, and Basel, Switzerland. She is a member of the Swiss Society of Female Artists. Her belief in the vital role of art as a form of human expression and a life-sustaining force is evident in her work, which continues to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide.
